How to book Uganda Gorilla permits for 2020, 2021, Uganda Gorilla trekking permit cost, Gorilla permit availability in Bwindi impenetrable National park and Mgahinga Gorilla park
Gorilla trekking is one of the trending Uganda tours and is one of the best adventure safaris in Africa.
Mountain Gorillas are located in the Virunga Conservation area an area covering Uganda(Mgahinga Gorilla park), Rwanda(Volcanoes National park) and Dr Congo(Virunga National park).
However the remaining half of the gorillas is located in Bwindi Impenetrable national park in Uganda.
Uganda Gorilla Permit
Uganda Wildlife Authority is responsible for issuing the gorilla trekking permits. Every day gorilla permits are issued out.
UWA issues 88 gorilla permits per day to Bwindi Impenetrable National park for 11 gorilla groups. For Mgahinga National park, 8 permits are issued every day for 1 gorilla group.
Therefore, in Uganda a total of 96 permits are issued out every day.
In order to do Gorilla trekking in Uganda, you are required to book a gorilla permit. Booking should be done prior to the trekking day.
Booking can be done months before the d-day to ensure that you get your slot and a gorilla group to be visited.
So when booking for a Gorilla permit, you will be required to inform the booking office the preferred location so that they can know the availability of the gorilla trekking permit for that day.
2021 Uganda Gorilla trekking Permit Cost
The price of Gorilla trekking permits is $700 in the months of December-March and June-October. Compared this to Rwanda gorilla permits which cost $1500 and in Dr Congo where the cost is just $400.
Discounted Uganda Gorilla permits
UWA no longer issues out discounted gorilla trekking permits. The permits remain at a cost of $700.
Booking for a Uganda Gorilla permit for 2020, 2021
Uganda Gorilla trekking permit booking is a responsibility of UWA, head office in Kampala. Booking can be done on an individual basis or through Gorilla and adventure Safaris.
How to Book Uganda Gorilla permits through UWA
When booking, you can contact the Uganda Wildlife Authority(UWA) by sending then an email with your details and then they will check the dates you desire and then let you know about the availability of Gorilla permits on that specific date.
However in case the permits are not available, then you can ask them about the dates where gorilla permits are available. Upon confirming the date, you will then transfer the money to UWA accounts.
Note: You are required to pay for the bank charges otherwise the gorilla trekking permit will not be confirmed.
Upon finishing the payment, you are then required to send a scanned copy of the Receipt by email to the Booking office for confirmation.
The process may take between 2 to 4 days before they confirm your dates and then they will send a scanned copy of your Gorilla permit.
The permit should show your full personal details,(name, Passport number, Home Country) the gorilla trekking date and the gorilla group to be visited.
The only task left for you is to show up on the Gorilla trekking day.
Booking Uganda Gorilla permit with Gorilla and Adventure Safaris

When you arrive, our driver will pick you from the Airport and then transfer you to your hotel and then later he will drive you to Bwindi impenetrable national park or Mgahinga Gorilla park for the gorilla trekking experience.
