This 7 Days tour gives you a sneakpeak of the adventure in both Uganda and Rwanda. The safari Itinerary starts with a tour of Queen Elizabeth National Park in Western Uganda.

Here you will have a wildlife experience and a boat safari on Kazinga Channel. Queen Elizabeth is famous for tree climbing Lions, Elephant herds, Buffaloes, Leopards, several antelope species, Hippos, Crocodiles, Giraffes, and several other wildlife.

This park is also a sanctuary for multitude of Bird species for Birding enthusiasts. That aside, this Eco-wonder is blessed with breathtaking landscapes and vegetation, Crater lakes, Hot springs and friendly people with rich Culture.

From Queen Elizabeth, we head to Bwindi Impenetrable national park, the home of Mountain Gorillas in Uganda. After gorilla trekking, we will have a stop at the magnificent lake Bunyonyi

The safari continues to Volcanoes National park in Rwanda. Here we will have a Cultural tour of the Iby’Iwacu village and also go for golden monkey trekking or have a second gorilla trekking expedition.

We end our 7 days Uganda Rwanda Safari with a Mount Bisoke Hike or Kigali City tour, sites to visit include, Kigali genocide memorial and Kimironko Market.

Full Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park for an evening game drive

Our 7 Days adventure starts today. Our representative will meet you at your hotel after breakfast and then drive you to Queen Elizabeth National Park for an evening game drive.

The drive takes us though the city suburbs seeing many people going to work/ attend to their gardens.

We will stop at the Equator for a cup of coffee/Tea and also stretch a bit.
We hit the road again passing through Masaka town, continue to Mbarara city for Lunch an then proceed to Queen Elizabeth passing through big tea plantation that stretch over the horizons.

On arrival we check into our lodge then set off for an evening game drive.

Day 2: Morning game drive and Evening boat safari

After breakfast, we go for an early morning ame drive in Queen Elizabeth looking for Big game and Big cats. We look out for Lions, Elephant, Buffalo, Hyena, Topi and several other animals.

From the morning game drive, we head back for lunch and later go for an evening boat cruise on Kazinga Channel.

Kazinga channel gives a great opportunity to see thousand of Hippos, Crocodile, Buffalo, Elephant, Birds and other wildlife as they come for a water break on the channel.

After the boat cruise on Kazinga, we head to the lodge for dinner.

Day 3: Morning game drive and transfer to Bwindi

Todays drive takes you to the southern section of Queen Elizabeth national park. This section is famous for Tree Climbing Lions and other wildlife.

We take pictures of these big cats and then embark on our journey to Bwindi Impenetrable national park the home of gorilla trekking in Uganda. On arrival, we check in the lodge and also go for a community walk if time allows.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Early in the morning after our breakfast(or with packed), You will gather at the park offices in the morning for briefing and gorilla group allocation. The park ranger will lead your group of about 8 into the forest to track the famous mountain gorillas.

When the trackers find the location, they communicate with your ranger about the gorilla location and he takes you there, equipped with a machete to pave way through the thick Bwindi forest.

On meeting the gentle giants, you will spend one hour with them before exiting the forest. We then checkout of our lodge and then proceed to Lake Bunyonyi to relax.

Day 5: Transfer to Volcanoes National park for Iby’Iwacu cultural tour

Today we spend sometime at lake Bunyonyi and then check out to embark on our journey to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. We drive through beautiful terraced hills of south western Uganda and then cross to Rwanda.

We head to Volcanoes National park and on arrival, we will go for a cultural tour in Iby’Iwacu cultural village. After the tour, we head to our hotel and then retire for the night.

Day 6: Golden monkey trekking or Second gorilla trek in Volcanoes National Park

First Option: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes

Gorilla tracking in volcanoes national park. We drive to the park headquarters for briefing and gorilla group a location, here you enjoy tea or coffee as your guide works with registration and group.

A traditional performance entertainment is good to jump start your second gorilla adventure. We then drive to the trekking starting point. Trekking here is however said to be easier than the first one.

Enjoy another hour with the Gorillas before finding your way out of the forest.

Second Option Option: Golden Monkey Trekking

We drive to the trekking starting point. Golden monkey Trekking said to be easier than gorilla trekking since the monkeys do not go very high in the forests as compared to Gorillas.

Upon finding these playful monkeys, you will spend 1 hour with them before trekking out of the forest.

Day 7: Mountain Bisoke Hike or Kigali City Tour

On this day we have 2 options, we can go for a city tour in Kigali or we can have a Mount Bisoke Hike.

For mount Bisoke hike, we will gather at the base at 7:30am to start our hike to the top of the volcano. The trek can take between 3 to 6 hours depending our your level of fitness and experience.

On reaching the summit, we enjoy the view of the crater lake at the top before we descend back to the base. We then drive to Kigali for your flight or other activities.

Incase we are going to a Kigali City tour, we will visit the Genocide memorial, Kimironko Market and other historical sites in Kigali before driveing to the airport for your flight.

What you need for Gorilla Trekking

Just like Rwenzori Mountains Climbing, gorilla trekking also requires these items when tracking the gorillas.
  • Water: Gorilla trekking can be very tiresome and you need to refill your tank as the trek goes on. It is advisable to park a few water filtration tablets before you come for the trek.
  • Boots: You will need good waterproof comfortable shoes. Some times it rains during the trek, so skid proof shoes can come in handy.
  • Rain Jacket: You are advised to carry rain jacket because if rains very often in Volcanoes National park
  • Snack: You can carry a light snack to give you some energy during the walk in the forest
  • Trouser and Shirts The forest in Volcanoes NP is covered with thick undergrowth, therefore light trousers and long sleeved shirts are advised.
  • Socks: You will have to tuck in the trousers into the socks to avoid insects crawling inside.
  • Gloves: You will need Gardening gloves because you will be grabbing tree branches, leaves, name it, and some can be thorny.
  • Camera: Carry a good camera to capture this lifetime experience (no flash)
